My Bio
I work as an estimator, but in my spare time I have been teaching myself how to use Blender.

My father was an engineer for the Southern Pacific railroad for 44 years. He retired in 1996, right before the UP / SP merger. In the '70's and '80's he often took me to work with him, mostly when he was working night jobs out of Stockton, CA, and Lodi, CA. Occasionally he would take me on the Kentuckyhouse Branch job (up to the Calaveras Cement plant), and the Ione Local, and once I even went with him on the Oakdale Local. All of these (I think) are looooong gone. Things were different on the railroad back then; there were no in-cab computers, cameras, and the only thing he ever had to worry about was some official "...waiting in the weeds." I realize now he took a lot of chances taking me with him, but the old heads he ran with were nothing but kind to me, and (to the best of my knowledge) he was never reprimanded, or written up, or whatever would happen to a hoghead who got caught with his teenage kid sitting in the fireman's seat. I will never, ever be able to repay him for the experiences he gave me. As a father myself now, my one big regret is that I can't offer my own son and daughter something of similar experience ("Hey, kids! This is how I fill out a spreadsheet! Isn't that AWESOME!?!" ) And that kinda makes me sad...

Thus a bit of background on me, and some explanation about my subject matter...

My father passed away on March 9'th, 2018. He was sleeping peacefully, and he just slipped away quietly, which I have been convincing myself over the past few days was a deliberate thing on his part.  My dad always maintained as part of his personality that staying in the background and keeping a low profile made you a better person / more mysterious than jumping out front and drawing attention to yourself.  I comfort myself in thinking that some part of him said “Hmmmm… it’s quiet and peaceful right now, I think I’ll just make my exit here…”  As equally important to me in these moments is that he went peac

Next month will mark the 14'th year (minus one year she took off working for a spin-off start-up from the original company) since my wife went to work for this little gaming software company in Irvine, CA.  At the time, it was a source of friction between us in a small way that she had ended up there; she has a Master's Degree in Special Education, and had been working as a Special Needs teacher for many years prior to going to work at this company.  She had told me on numerous occasions that the education system was burning her out, especially with all the Title 9 requirements and lack of support from the schools that she was shouldering bei

Nice work. Good modeling and texturing. Will be nice see your whole train!
Thank you!

Not sure what I am going to do with the individual models, but putting them together in some sort of shot would be cool... :-)
